This came brand new and works perfect. I read reviews on the new versions of the adaptor and how people didn't like that the prongs don't snap back in so even though this older one is slightly bigger, I think it's better because it does have prongs that snap back in.
I returned it for a refund (still waiting) and ordered the real thing directly from Apple. I ordered from Mac_Pro_Online and did not get the USB cable. It wasn't even a genuine Apple. The genuine Apple charger is an updated model, so I can't comment on this one. Just be careful if you don't order from Amazon because outside sellers think it's okay to sell something other than what's described just by putting a "comment" (which can't even be seen if you order from the featured seller).
They refunded me for my order. Product was shipped in a bubble wrap envelope - no box. I did not receive an authentic Apple adapter as described (MA592LL/A) in product description and I also did not receive the USB cable for connecting to my iPod, which was stated as being included. They also made note of the iPod Touch having issues with charging on this version however it will work with other models except for touch. The adapter I did receive doesn't provide a steady charge for my iPod Touch and has no Apple branding or identification whatsoever. Trying to contact seller "Mac_Pro_Online" to deal with the matter and will update this review accordingly.UPDATE: January 28, 2010I contacted the seller and they said it was an error on Amazon's comment notation of the product. Changed previous rating of 1 Star to 3 Stars. They dealt with my complaint in a timely manner and refunded me for my purchase.
After about 3 months, the AC adapter just stopped working, leaving me in a pinch when it came to charging my ipod (I was traveling). Perhaps this is not genuine Apple, or perhaps I just got a faulty one, but be aware that this may happen to you as well. While I can live without my ipod, it was still a hassel. Not sure what caused it, but it was working great beforehand. While it lasted, however, it was a great small size and I've always liked the utility of Apple AC adapters. If you care about quality, make sure it is genuine Apple (though this is sometimes difficult to ascertain).
Bulky but very well made, performed well, dependable. I recommend getting the Apple over other brand chargers for your ipod.
